1963: October UFO & Alien Sightings

(Last Updated On: June 15, 2016)

Date: October 1963
Location: Whidbey Island, Washington
Time: 09:00 a.m.
Summary: A middle-aged woman, who had seen a strange craft hovering near her house the previous July, observed a gray-colored object, 3.5 meters long, hovering less than 2 meters above ground. Through the transparent front part she could see three figures. Suddenly one of the occupants was standing on the grass. He was clothed in “asbestos-textured coveralls” and neither the face, nor the hands, nor the feet was visible. When she asked, “What do you want?” the answer, in English, was: “One of our party knows you; we will return.” The object then decreased in size, tilted, partially sank into the ground, grew to its previous size, and departed to the east, producing steam, a flash, and a noise.

Location: Mediterranean, Off the coast of Sardinius
Time: At approximately 2:00 a.m. local time,
Summary: Radar operator Harry Jordan, on the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt (CV-42),  was on watch when he saw a radar contact 600 miles down range at 80,000 feet altitude. The object moved to 300 miles at 35,000 feet and then to 10 miles range at 10,000 to 15,000 feet. The object was tracked at speeds up to 4,000 mph. and flew in a Z-pattern making right angle turns. The officer of the deck was informed and woke up the Captain, who ordered the scramble of two F-4 Phantom II jets. The object was moving closer to the ship and suddenly disappeared from the radar scope. The object reappeared and was getting closer to the Roosevelt. The object came to within several hundred feet of the ship as at least 15 persons with binoculars watched the object hover for a moment. This was at approximately at 2:32 a.m. The object then disappeared.

Date: October 21, 1963
Location: Trancas, Argentina
Time:
Summary: A disc-shaped, domed object was revealed hanging in mid-air in front of them. It had six brightly lit windows and was some 30 feet (9 meters) wide; metallic in appearance, it had a number of sections that were joined together with rivets and seams. The dome was also metallic, but it was darker and had no rivets. The object was rocking gently to and fro. Suddenly a multicolored band began to rotate inside the windows and a witish mist thickened around the object, which emitted a faint hum. The witnesses became aware of a sulfurous smell. As the band inside the craft rotated faster and faster, they watched while the disc gradually became enveloped in a white mist until all could be seen was an orange-colored cloud.

Date: Oct. 23, 1963
Location:  USS Kearsarge at sea, out of Japan
Time:  18:00
Summary:  Observed 5 lights in a inverted “V” rise from the horizon, hover for a few minutes and then sink back down below the horizon. We were at sea on our way back to the U.S. from Japan. Lights were similar to the Phoenix “V” lights. Me and my friend M. B. were walking across the flight deck, I don’t remember why anymore. It was at dusk but not dark yet. We first saw a bright light on the horizon directly behind the ship. It rose up and then there were 3 which continued to rise to 5 lights. They stayed there for awhile not moving or anything. I told my friend I should go get my camera but he said the lights would be gone by then. Shortly after that the lights descended to below the horizon. We went the the CIC room and asked the radar operator if there was anything behind us, he said no. We never said why we were asking or said anything about what we had saw. I can’t remember that we ever talked about it after that because M. said no one would believe us anyway and I agreed. Until I heard about the Phoenix lights on 3-13-97 I haven’t mentioned this to a whole lot of people. As to when this happened I am thinking it was 3 days out of Japan and the ship was traveling about 30 knots. It was a warm night as I remember. I don’t remember that the lights flickered but do remember that they were white.
