1972: May UFO & Alien Sightings

Summary: Mr. & Mrs Ron Ferret, shopping on a downtown Grafton street, saw 3 odd dwarfish people—two male and a female—3.5” tall and wearing baggy clothes that gave the impression of simulated “ordinary man in the street clothes.” The material was unfamiliar to Mrs Ferret. The dwarfs had rough, wrinkled skin of deep brown color that looked very old, although they seemed to be young. They had large, slanted “oriental” eyes that seemed to “pop out,” very short hair, and pointed ears. They shuffled along the streets in sandals looking in store windows, and other passerby kept well away from them. They said nothing. The Ferrets came within several feet of them, and they suggested the three might be performers from a visiting children’s show, but they concluded the figures were even too strange for that.

Summary: Several people were in a car 12 miles west of Volgograd, when suddenly their motor stopped and they observed a large “metallic mass” and heard a mental voice say, “We come in peace, do not fear us.” It then flew off rapidly, after which their engine re-started by itself.

Summary: Four coed friends were driving on an isolated road near Modena when they reached an area where two sets of blacktop highway headed off into the desert—one veered sharply to the southeast, the other shooting northeast toward the canyon country. They decided to take the left road toward the canyon country. Five minutes later, the Chevy entered a red rock canyon. One of the girls suddenly noticed that the car’s headlights were shining more brightly on the pavement. Looking closer she let out a gasp. The white centerline was gone. Instead of black asphalt, they were driving on white cement. Suddenly the highway ended abruptly at a rocky cliff face. The Chevy screeched to a stop in front of the cliff. They kept driving on the canyon road, hemmed in by red canyon walls. They canyon gradually gave way to open country. The girls gasped. Instead of moonlit desert, they saw grain fields on the right and a large lake, with stands of ponderosa pine, on the left. Up ahead they spied what appeared to be a tavern and an adjacent parking lot. It seemed to have a neon sign, but they could not read it. What should have been letters were brightly lit squiggles and curlicues. Some men came out of the building. They slowed down their vehicle and one of the girls rolled down the window in order to ask for directions. They noticed what appeared to be consternation among the men. As if they’d been startled by some unknown animal. One of the girls stuck her head out the window and suddenly let out a terrified scream. She yelled at the driver to leave the area quickly. They looked back and saw that four queer-looking machines described as egg-shaped mounted on tricycle wheels were chasing them. That is with two large wheels on the front and a smaller wheel in the rear. A single bright white headlight shone from the front of each pursuing machine. They made a strange whirring or buzzing sound as they rolled along. Ahead the road led back into a red-rock canyon. The road was very narrow and seemed to hem them in. They could no longer see their pursuers. Minutes later they roared out of the canyon, back into the familiar desert. The car skidded down an arroyo and came to rest at the bottom. The girl that had stuck her head out the window was hysterical and could only describe that the men were not “human.” An hour later they managed to flag down a highway patrol trooper that towed their vehicle from the area. No one could explain how the Chevy had gotten nearly two miles north of Highway 56 without leaving any physical trace of its passage through the rough desert terrain. Had the girls somehow gone into another dimension?

Summary: The witness was onboard a bus following another bus and at the time most occupants on both vehicles were sleeping, when she noticed a group of short human like figures apparently standing on the roof of the first bus. The beings appeared to be semi solid and appeared to be playing about on the roof. The driver apparently did not see the figures.

Summary: While traveling from northern New Mexico towards Santa Fe, the road suddenly became wavy in the witness’s vision. He slowly became paralyzed and had what appeared to have been an out of body experience—but fully conscious. Exactly how long it lasted he is not sure. But when he regained normal consciousness the road returned to normal and he still had his hands on the steering wheel and the foot on
the gas pedal and still driving on a totally normal road. He does not recall seeing any bright lights or flying objects. He wonders if this experience was caused by some kind of strong “magnetic field”.

William G. Lestin and his wife were driving to a motel when they saw a luminous disc settling to the ground 100 yards away. He got out and walked to within 50 feet, finding a round object sitting on a tripod landing gear. Moving about beneath it were two 4-foot creatures resembling human beings but with arms that dangled to the ground; they were “apparently covered with a glazed coat of grayish material” and wore helmets. As he watched, a door opened and a ramp descended; the 2 humanoids re-boarded and the object rose with a blinding red light. Lestin was terrified and had to be placed under sedation. The entire incident had lasted more than 5 minutes.

Summary: Aarno Heinonen (involved in a close encounter on January 1970) heard three ‘sound signals’ and then an unknown woman’s voice asking her to come to a meeting at a place behind a red barn near the crossroads to Jaala and Voikoski. He was to come on his own, and he was not allowed to bring his camera or his tape recorder. The woman’s voice sounded high-pitched and ‘strained’. He went to the location on his motor-scooter. As he arrived behind the barn he saw a woman, clad in a bright yellow trouser-suit and wearing long hair down to her shoulders. Her hair was yellow and the ends bent upwards. Her dress was close-fitting and glittered when she moved. On her feet she wore silvery shoes and red rosettes. In her left hand she held something that looked like a ball, silver in color and connected to a rod which she held in her hand. On the ball were three antennae, each about 30 cm long, and each of which pointed towards him.
He was not afraid and he went quickly towards her. She came towards him, put out her hand and said ‘hyvaa paivaa’ (How do you do? In Finnish). He took her hand. It felt soft and cool. Then she took two steps back, and at that moment he noticed another figure, a man standing immovable some 70 meters away. He too was wearing yellow clothing, somewhat lighter in color, and had some sort of hat on his head. He was so dark he was unable to see the man clearly. He asked the woman where she had come from. She responded, ‘We come from the other side of the galaxy, from a pleasant green land.’ Then she told him that three different species of ‘humanoids’ had visited Imjarvi. First of all small beings, then people like her (height about 140cm) and finally a taller race of almost 2 meters in height. The woman also said her age was 180, although she had the looks of a 20 year old girl.

Summary: four young boys who were camping out observed a very bright light source descending slowly. The object then descended in a “sideways, zigzag” manner. The object slowed its descent and began to move directly over the boys. The boys could see that the object was not a helicopter and turned and ran to the home of one of the boys. The boys, asked individually to describe the object, said it looked like an octahedron-shaped object that appeared to be tilted at a 45-degree angle. The object had four pipe-like legs with “round pads” affixed to the end of each leg. As the object passed directly over the boys, they observed a flashing red light on the object’s trailing side. A fiery 10-foot-long exhaust appeared beneath the object and seemed to changed colors. The boys described a number of bright, silver, inverted U-shaped cable-like things sticking into the top of the object. According to the witnesses the object passed over them at an altitude of approximately 150 feet. They described its size as between one and two car-lengths in both height and width. This case was investigated by NICAP’s Massachusetts Subcommittee, under direction of Chairman Raymond E. Fowler.

Summary: May 14, 1972; Germantown, IL
Three sisters who live on a farm about two miles southwest of Germantown, watched a brilliantly lighted UFO near their home at dusk. The object was first seen hovering over a neighbor’s farm buildings to the southeast. The girls described the object as being of half-moon shape with a dark gray, metallic body. At first the craft displayed two brilliant white lights described as being quite similar to car headlights. After hovering for about 11 minutes, the object began to move slowly to the west. At this point the white lights disappeared and blue, green, red and white lights appeared around the entire rim of the craft. These lights resembled aircraft running lights, but did not flash, and were visible until the craft was out of sight. Although the craft had been silent while hovering, when it moved to the west a sound similar to that of a small airplane was heard. However, the airspeed was about half that of a small plane. The girls observed the craft for about 15 minutes, and all had an opportunity to view it with 7×35 binoculars, and all were sure it was not an ordinary aircraft. The distance from their home to the craft when first seen above the neighbor’s farm buildings is roughly a half mile, and they estimated the craft to be about 50 feet in diameter and about 200 feet above ground. Summary: The witness was in her kitchen late one night washing dishes when she happened to look out the window where the sink was overlooking out into her backyard. She then saw a strange looking oval-shaped craft, flying over the house, it made a strange eerie sound as it landed on her backyard. Three small creatures (not described) came out of the spacecraft and looked around her yard. The witness called the policed to report the intruders, but before they could get there the humanoids had re-boarded the object, which lift up into the air and vanished in plain sight.
