Summary/Description: The anonymous witnesses headlights illuminated a silvery, “cloud-like” egg shaped object about 8 ft wide and 4 ft thick, some 12 ft above the ground. It sank to the ground and a 3-foot being emerged, which the witness at first took for a child. He got out of his car and confronted, a few feet away, a being with light green complexion and silvery clothing, who asked him telepathically for help in “putting their ship aloft.” Witness asked for “a formula for steel that would not rust” and was given “a formula for regular rim steel, but including the word ‘Unimic’ The being gave his name as “Tamarak” and said he was from “the eighth or tenth planet from your source of energy.” The witness was ordered back into the car, and the UFO took off, out of sight in seconds.
The “Unimic” Mystery and Technical Specifics
The mention of “rim steel” and the specific term “Unimic” adds a layer of high strangeness to the Windham case. In 1952, the American steel industry was the backbone of the economy, and the idea of a rust-proof formula was a holy grail of industrial science. By requesting this, the witness engaged in a rare “exchange of information” encounter, which stands in contrast to the more common passive observation reports of the era.
Planetary Origin and Energy Sources
Tamarak’s claim of being from the “eighth or tenth planet from your source of energy” is a significant detail. If we assume the “source of energy” is the Sun, this would place their origin at Neptune or perhaps a hypothesized tenth planet (often referred to as Planet X in early ufology). The choice of the word “energy source” rather than “Sun” suggests a perspective that views stars primarily as power generators—a hallmark of advanced civilizations in many contactee narratives.
The Cloud-Like Propulsion
The “silvery, cloud-like” texture of the 8-foot egg-shaped craft is a physical description often associated with ionization or a plasma-based propulsion system that obscures the solid hull of the craft. The ability of the object to sink to the ground and depart within seconds indicates a manipulation of gravity or inertia that still defies modern terrestrial aeronautics.
This encounter is a classic example of the “space brother” era of the early 1950s, but with a unique technical twist. The request for a rust-proof steel formula and the specific name “Tamarak” provide the kind of odd, specific details that researchers look for in credible witness testimony. The telepathic nature of the communication and the “cloud-like” appearance of the craft suggest a highly advanced technology that appeared almost magical to a 1952 witness.
