Summary/Description: In July of 2006, Colorado resident Marcia Burke was driving home at night after an evening out. She lived on a horse ranch in Deer Trail. She claims that as she neared her home, she began seeing lights behind her vehicle. They seemed almost too close to be another car. She pulled off to the side of the road to let the other car pass by, but none came. She continued her trip home, and as she came to the top of a hill, she could see as many as 15 UFOs ahead of her. She videotaped these objects, and also a possible alien being.
Unfortunately, the alien footage can only be seen via pay per view. Because of the subsequent appearance on the Montel Williams show, her story has been seen by millions of viewers. We have strung together several different videos that fairly represent her account. Just like many other UFO and alien reports, Mrs. Burke has her debunkers.

Deep Dive: The July 2006 Encounter
The encounter in July 2006 began as a routine drive that quickly descended into a surreal Close Encounter.
-
The “Invisible” Follower: Marcia first reported a single light that acted with predatory intelligence. It was not merely following her horse trailer; it was mirroring her every move. When she pulled over on the pitch-black rural road to allow the presumed vehicle to pass, the light halted immediately. It stayed silent, maintaining a precise distance that felt like a deliberate psychological standoff.
-
The Wall of Lights: Upon reaching the Crest of the Hill, the scale of the event shifted from a single follower to a massive formation. Marcia observed over 15 distinct objects hovering in a “wall-like” configuration over her property. They were not drifting; they were locked in a coordinated formation that showed no signs of heat exhaust or engine noise, completely defying the typical profile of military or civilian craft.
-
The Entity Footage Mystery: The most polarizing aspect of this Deep Dive is the Entity Footage. Marcia described a small, translucent being with large eyes and a thin frame that appeared to “peek” at her from behind a ranch structure. Because this footage was originally kept behind a pay-per-view restriction, it created a rift in the research community. Skeptics point to the monetization as a red flag, while supporters argue that the Marcia Burke encounter is a rare CE-III where physical entities were documented alongside craft.
The Montel Williams Segment
The national exposure on the Montel Williams Show remains the most significant turning point for the Marcia Burke case. During her appearance, the footage was not just shown as a curiosity but was subjected to a formal Expert Analysis.
-
The Frame-by-Frame Breakdown: Analysts featured on the show highlighted specific frames where the 15+ objects exhibited flight characteristics that defied conventional aeronautical physics. One particular expert noted that the intensity of the lights suggested a high-energy plasma discharge, a common characteristic in high-strangeness CE-III cases.
-
Witness Credibility: The segment focused heavily on Marcia’s background as a rancher in Deer Trail, emphasizing her practical, grounded nature. This Public Impact helped bridge the gap between “fringe” UFO sightings and mainstream Colorado news, as millions of viewers witnessed her emotional and sincere testimony.
Context: The 2006 Colorado UFO Wave
While Marcia Burke’s encounter is one of the most famous from that year, it was part of a significant surge in “high-strangeness” reports across Colorado and the United States throughout 2006.
-
Red Rocks & Lafayette: In the months surrounding Burke’s July encounter, multiple witnesses reported large, metallic craft over the Red Rocks Amphitheatre and nearby Lafayette. On June 5, 2006, just a month before Burke’s sighting, a dozen employees at Red Rocks witnessed a massive, disc-shaped craft hovering silently about a mile north of the venue. Described as being the size of a “three-story office building,” the object featured three levels of windows and lights. Like Burke’s sighting, this object remained stationary for nearly 30 seconds before “dissolving into the ether” as soon as it seemed to realize it was being watched.
-
The O’Hare Connection: The 2006 wave culminated in November with the famous Chicago O’Hare Airport sighting. On November 7, twelve United Airlines employees, including pilots and supervisors, observed a metallic, saucer-shaped craft hovering over Gate C-17. The craft was 6 to 24 feet in diameter and completely silent. When it eventually departed, it shot upward with such velocity that it “punched” a clear blue hole through the thick cloud layer.
-
A Year of Unexplained Aerial Activity: These reports from 2006 are often studied together because of their shared characteristics: silent, metallic craft, coordination in movement, and a high number of professional witnesses. For Colorado residents like Marcia Burke, these weren’t isolated incidents but part of a documented year where unidentified objects seemed to operate with total impunity over sensitive civilian and military airspace.
Detailed Witness Testimony Expansion
Marcia Burke’s encounter was not just a sighting of distant lights; it was a harrowing, up-close experience that began on a lonely stretch of road near Deer Trail, Colorado. She reported that as she was towing her horse trailer, a single, intense light appeared to “lock onto” her vehicle, mimicking her speed and stopping when she stopped.
The situation escalated as she crested a final hill before her ranch. Instead of one light, she was met with a “wall” of 15 to 20 luminous objects hovering in a silent, coordinated formation directly over her property. Burke described the objects as having a vibrant, almost “living” quality to their light. Most notably, her footage reportedly captured a small, translucent entity that appeared to be observing her from behind a structure on the ranch—a detail that led to her feature on the Montel Williams Show.
Technical Analysis: Understanding the CE-III Classification
While many aerial phenomena are categorized as Nocturnal Lights (NL) or Daylight Discs (DD), the Marcia Burke case is a definitive Close Encounter of the Third Kind (CE-III). According to the Hynek Scale, a CE-III involves the observation of animate beings—aliens or entities—in association with a UFO. Marcia’s account of the 15+ objects over her horse ranch provides the craft context, but it is her controversial footage of a translucent entity that elevates this report into the third category. This distinction is critical for researchers, as it shifts the focus from mere propulsion technology to potential biological or interdimensional interaction.
The Marcia Burke encounter remains a pivotal case in Colorado’s rich history of aerial mysteries. While skeptics may focus on the missing or paywalled footage, the sheer volume of supporting evidence—from the 15+ objects witnessed in Deer Trail to the broader 2006 Colorado UFO wave—suggests an event of immense scale. Whether viewed as a technological anomaly or a profound CE-III interaction, Burke’s story continues to challenge our understanding of what moves through the silent skies of the American West.
