Summary/Description: symmetrical object appeared from the clouds directly above me and started approaching vertically. By the time I grabbed my camera it changed direction and went some 2-3 km to the south.
Full Report
I was playing soccer with my 9 year old kid on our terrace in Zagreb. Suddenly my son stopped playing, looked into the sky and asked “daddy, what’s that”. Later he told me that he looked up because he heard strange buzz. I didn’t hear anything.
This object was exactly above our heads and approaching vertically, almost like falling.
I cannot exactly say how close it was, because I have no idea about the size of this thing, but If I have to guess it would be 300-500 meters.
After initial shock, maybe 10 or 15 seconds I ran into the room to grab the camera. It took maybe 15-30 seconds to find it and turn it on. By the time I got back on the terrace, object changed the direction and it was at least 2 km away. It was already difficult to find it through the camera screen. My camera has only 6x zoom, and I cannot remember if I used it or not.
Few seconds later there was no sense taking more photos…this was just small black dot in the sky going south very fast.
I sent a photo to my pilot friend in Genève in Switzerland, and he told me to report this to ufoevidence.
The 2006 Zagreb Disc: A Close Encounter Near the Presidential Palace
On the afternoon of June 8, 2006, a startling aerial event occurred in the heart of Zagreb, Croatia. At approximately 5:30 PM (17:30), a father and his nine-year-old son were playing soccer on their terrace in an urban area notably close to the Presidential Palace. What began as a routine family afternoon quickly transformed into a significant Daylight Disc (DD) encounter that lasted nearly a minute.
The Descent and the “Buzz”
The encounter was initiated not by the father, but by the son, who suddenly stopped playing to ask, “Daddy, what’s that?”. While the father initially heard nothing, the boy reported a strange buzzing sound that had drawn his attention toward the sky. Directly above their heads, a symmetrical, silver-colored disc had emerged from the cloud layer.
The object appeared to be approaching vertically in a manner the witness described as “almost like falling,” reaching an estimated altitude of 300 to 500 meters. At its closest point, the witness noted its relative size appeared to be about 15 cm from their perspective on the ground.
A Sudden Maneuver
After about 15 seconds of initial shock, the witness ran inside to grab a camera. By the time he returned to the terrace—a lapse of perhaps 30 seconds—the object had drastically changed its behavior. No longer falling vertically, the disc had transitioned to horizontal flight and was already roughly 2 km to the south, moving toward a local power plant.
The witness managed to capture the object on screen, though its extreme speed made it difficult to track. Within seconds, the silver disc had dwindled to a “small black dot” in the distance before vanishing entirely.
Investigative Context
This report was later submitted to ufoevidence following a recommendation from a pilot friend of the witness in Geneva, Switzerland. The proximity to high-profile locations like the Presidential Palace and the absence of major military installations in the immediate flight path make this a particularly intriguing entry in our historical UFO sightings database.
