A visual reconstruction of the November 7, 2004, encounter where a witness observed four metallic discs spinning in unison over 52nd and 9th Avenue.
THINK ABOUTIT UFO SIGHTING REPORT
On November 7, 2004, at approximately 7:30 a.m., a witness in Midtown Manhattan observed four metallic, disc-shaped objects in the morning sky. Standing at the corner of 52nd Street and 9th Avenue, the witness initially mistook the objects for marathon balloons until noticing their synchronized spinning and blinking red lights. The objects appeared to glide in a fleet formation before disappearing behind a tall white building on 10th Avenue.

Summary/Description: I was on my way to work one Sunday morning and waiting for the “walk sign” on the corner of 52nd and 9th Ave in Midtown, Manhattan when I spotted 4 metallic disc-shaped objects on the sky (right where I was facing). There was a marathon that day so I dismissed the objects as mere balloons that got away until I saw the red blinking lights. As I in awe,I was trying to figure out what I am witnessing at that moment. They seemed to glide and spin in unison, as if in a fleet position while red lights goes on and off. It disappeared behind a white, tall building that can be seen on 10th Avenue near 53rd Street.
Every object has 4 red blinking lights on the disc body. No visible windows except for the small dome in the middle (on top and bottom) of every object – the color of the dome is the same as the rest of the object – metallic dark silver and not shiny. I don’t know what I saw that day but it certainly did retain in my mind up until the day I am writing this sighting report.
Sketch by the witness. “Here is the illustration of what I saw last November 7, 2004.
Historical Context: The 2004 New York Sighting Wave
The sighting on November 7, 2004, was not an isolated event but rather part of a broader period of increased aerial anomalies reported across the Tri-State area during the early 2000s. Manhattan, with its high-density population and significant airspace monitoring, presents a unique challenge for unidentified objects. Most urban sightings are quickly debunked as advertising planes, drones (in later years), or festive balloons; however, the specific physical characteristics described in this Midtown account—such as the dual domes and synchronized spinning—align more closely with “structured craft” observations found in professional ufology databases.
The “Daylight Disc” Anomaly in Urban Centers
Under the Hynek Classification System, a Daylight Disc (DD) is defined as a metallic or distinct object seen during the day that cannot be explained by conventional aviation. In the 2004 Manhattan case, the witness’s observation of “dark silver” metallic surfaces and “blinking red lights” in broad daylight suggests a craft that is not relying on traditional stealth or camouflaging techniques. The fact that these four objects moved in a “fleet formation” over a busy intersection like 52nd and 9th Ave implies a level of intelligent control and propulsion that far exceeds the capabilities of stray balloons, which would be subject to the chaotic wind tunnels created by Manhattan’s skyscrapers.
The “Cone of Silence” and Public Perception
One of the most intriguing aspects of the November 7 sighting is the timing: 7:30 a.m. on a Sunday morning. While the city is never truly asleep, the early hour and the distraction of the ongoing marathon meant fewer eyes were likely looking straight up at the sky. This “urban camouflage”—hiding in plain sight during a major public event—is a recurring theme in many high-profile sightings. The witness’s initial hesitation to report the objects, first dismissing them as part of the marathon festivities, highlights how easily extraordinary events can be overlooked when the public is focused on grounded, terrestrial activities.
Researcher’s Notes
-
Technical Description: The objects were described as metallic, dark silver (non-shiny), and twice the size of a helicopter. They featured small domes on both the top and bottom and four blinking red lights on the main body.
-
Witness Credibility: The witness noted the specific location and time, mentioning the objects’ ability to spin and glide in perfect unison—a characteristic not typically associated with stray balloons.
-
Hynek Classification: This case is categorized as a Daylight Disc (DD) due to the metallic nature of the objects observed during morning hours.
-
Urban Environment: The sighting occurred in a high-density area near 53rd Street and 10th Avenue, though only one witness report is currently documented in this specific file.
