THINK ABOUTIT UFO SIGHTINGS REPORT
Date: Summer 2014
Sighting Time: 12:00 PM
Day/Night: Daytime
Location: Near Newcastle Airport, UK.
Urban or Rural: Where rural meets urban. Very close to a public airport and also not too far from several military sites – Otterburn and Spadeadam. This is also a major drinking water route for the North East of England.
Entity Type: None (The witness noted no visible occupants).
Entity Description: N/A.
Hynek Classification: CE-I (Close Encounter I) Observation of an object in close proximity to the witness (i.e. within 500’)
Duration: Probably 30 seconds all in.
No. of Object(s): 1
Appearance / Description of the Object(s): It was about 100 to 150 feet above us. Like a pipe. About 20 feet long or a little more. It was about 8 feet in diameter. It had no nose cone like a missile – it resembled one of those hollow point bullets – like a rounded edged thick pipe. The front end was as if it had been formed at an angle and with one part (which was closer to the ground) protruding very slightly further. I remember thirds – the front two thirds were a lightish matt grey colour and the rear third was almost like the sky. It could have been highly polished and reflecting it yes but there was a ‘yellowness’ to it too. The yellow might have been in the metal or coming from it like a glow. I don’t remember the shape of the rear end because it blended perfectly with the colours of the sky. The pipe had two distinct lines of dots running along its side – big enough to make out and looking more like holes in it and not rivets. Each line had at least 10 holes.
Distance to Object(s): 100 to 150 feet above us. When it turned it was as if we were at the start and watched it leave getting smaller and smaller but into the sky.
Shape of Object(s): Pipe
Size of Object(s): A pipe. Thick walled. Rounded edge at the front with a very slightly longer lower portion. I couldn’t make out the rear shape due to how it looked and reflected. 20 feet long, might be a little more. 8 feet diameter. It could only have been 100 to 150 feet above us.
Color of Object(s): yellowness
Number of Witnesses: 2
Special Features/Characteristics: Emitted a “solid” high and low-frequency noise; performed a 180-degree turn as if on “steel rails”; no visible fins, wings, or rudders.

Summary/Description: I was with another, it was mid day, summer and good weather. We both saw something following an aircraft coming in to land at the airport. The object turned and left.
Hi, I really hope I don’t sound crazy or odd. I’ve never told anyone about this sighting for fear of being mocked. This happened around 2014.
The location is near the western end of the runway at Newcastle International Airport in the North East of England. There’s a slight hill with an old ROC Post on it – and why I was there. I was with my girlfriend at the time. Both of us in our mid 40s.
It was the middle of a lovely summer’s day. Some fluffy clouds and some blue skies. A slight breeze.
At that location you have semi-urban once past the airport (looking East) and looking West you head into rural and then open moors and hills – The Pennines. We’d been sitting and chilling atop the ROC Post and watching aircraft coming in overhead to land. The hill and airport proximity gave us a fantastic view of the aircraft – it was amazing to watch! One airplane came in over us and literally seconds later I spotted something following. I actually thought it was a large missile at first! There are several military bases in nearby parts and a rogue missile wouldn’t be impossible..
OK the object following: It was about 100 to 150 feet above us.
The pipe seemed to glide in following the airplane a few seconds behind. It was silent at that point. Once the pipe had passed over and towards the runway it made an incredible turn – not like how a boat or airplane does – it was as if it was on steel rails and turned absolutely true. It was during the turn that it began making noise. That noise was not what I expected – I thought this was a missile. The noise was ‘solid’ noise – like what comes from a speaker and not an engine or jet. The solid noise had two parts: A higher noise and a lower but much louder noise. It was like a strong wall of sound. The volume was incredible – as if we were directly in the flow of the ‘engine’ or whatever was making the sound. I did think that one part of the sound was perhaps air movement over the object. I could be wrong though.
It turned quickly at 180 degrees and shot off. It wasn’t an instant vanish – it flew both inland and upwards at about 30 degrees into and through the clouds from us. It was very visible for 10 seconds and then gone. The noise was crazy. It was so ‘full’ and loud. No pulses thumping our chests – just solid noise. As it got further away it would sometimes go a bit louder and then silent.
I turned to my partner and she was crying. The sound had upset her because it was so loud. She’d seen everything just like I had – she’d watched it turn and fly off.
Yes I saw a flying pipe. I did think it was military at first but the sound – no way. It also had no fins, wings, rudder. Nothing. I’ve seen images of some missiles but they’re solid things. This just wasn’t. It also didn’t behave like a flying object should.
We didn’t feel heat radiating and didn’t suffer ill effects afterwards. The sound though – so loud. So loud it was terrifying. It basically froze us in fear is how I’d describe it.
This 2014 encounter remains one of the most harrowing and technically baffling reports in our database. The witness’s description of a “flying pipe” that moved as if on “steel rails” defies conventional aerodynamics, particularly given the lack of visible flight surfaces like wings or rudders. Furthermore, the description of the “solid” high and low-frequency noise suggests a propulsion system or energy displacement entirely different from known jet or rocket engines. While the proximity to Newcastle International Airport and nearby military sites like Otterburn might suggest a classified craft, the sheer volume of the sound and the object’s physics-defying 180-degree turn point toward a truly anomalous event. It is a stark reminder that even in broad daylight near major urban hubs, the unexplained still makes its presence known.
